Special events throughout the festival

Turkish Weekend September 17-18. A celebration of the origin of the tulip. Many people don't realise the tulip originated in Turkey. The Tesselaar Tulip Festival’s Turkish Weekend is a showcase of Turkish culture. With more than 100 performers, it is a colourful and exciting weekend.

Dutch Weekend September 23 - 25th. As far back as the 17th Century the Dutch built their dreams on Tulips, we celebrate their culture and love of the Tulip this weekends so … grab your clogs and get down to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival this weekend to see it transform into a mini-Holland! Enjoy delicious Dutch foods, see traditional Dutch folk dancing - in clogs!

Food Wine & Jazz Weekend September 30th - October 2. Dreamy local treasures in the Tulips … A fusion of Groove, Gastronomy and Grapes in the Garden! Enjoy the tunes with non stop music all weekend. Plus free wine and beer tasting of the regions greatest boutique wineries and breweries.

Irish Weekend October 7 - 9. A fantastical pot of gold at the end of the Rainbow … ‘There is no day so dull or dismal that it is not an occasion for rejoicing. Eat, drink, laugh and be Irish’ (Old Irish wisdom - Anon). So why not rejoice in the tulips this weekend, one full of fun, music, dancing and Leprechauns!

Children's Day September 27, 28, 29, October 4, 5, 6. Make your children's dreams come true in the Tulips. Treat the kids to a day of adventure amongst the brilliant colour of the tulips. The best bit? Kids under 16 get free entry. Kids entertainment, activities, petting zoos, Fairies and more.

RSPCA Charity Day October 5. An dreamy day out for a good cause … Support the RSPCA by coming along today. Raise funds and awareness for animals in need with 25% of gate proceeds donated to the RSPCA. Bring your dog along for fun activities, competitions and demonstrations.

Senior's Day Each Friday. An whimsical pace to suit the seniors. Seniors can enjoy our theme "weekend" which begin on a friday at a less hectic pace. Seniors can also enjoy a complimentary tea or coffee.

Sculpture in the Tulips Everyday. Victoria's third richest annual Sculpture prize. In association with the Association of Sculptors of Victoria, renowned sculptors from across Australia will exhibit their works between the colourful beds of the tulips. Visitors will be able to choose their favourite for the People’s Choice Award. The sculpture that wins the Tesselaar Prize will become a permanent feature at Tesselaar Gardens and can be visited year after year.

Discover delights in the Tulips

More than a million spring flowering bulbs including over half a million Tulips are on show throughout the festival. We have live entertainment on stage every day. You can enjoy the sculptures, pat the alpacas, indulge in traditional Dutch foods and other treats, find treasures in our souvenir stall, see beautiful garden displays, browse through our nursery, admire replica windmills, pick a bunch of Tulips and see traditional Dutch costumes.

Special Events throughout the festival:

Turkish Weekend September 18-19. Turkey hosted the world’s first Tulip Festival more than 400 years ago. Today the Tesselaar Tulip Festival’s Turkish Weekend is a showcase of Turkish culture.

Dutch Weekend September 25-26. Grab your clogs and get down to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival this weekend to see it transform into a mini-Holland!
